I’m here, but I’m not here…

So many of my clients are living in their heads and that used to be me too, and let's be real it's still a work in progress (it never truly stops) especially in the world we live in and the demands of day to day life.

I often have to pause and ground myself, reminding myself that I’m here, now, fully present in my body. Growing up, I was always fascinated by psychology and human behaviour. Knowledge and intellect felt like safe spaces—if I could understand everything, study everything, I’d be in control. I thought it would protect me. But in doing so, I disconnected from my body and emotions, living in my head became my survival strategy.

When we lead only from our heads, we miss out on the deeper layers of wisdom and connection that are always available. Decisions made purely from intellect can feel... a little cold, lacking the compassion, intuition, and embodiment that make leadership inspiring. And that’s where we can get stuck caught up in endless analysis but unable to create true connection and alignment.

But here’s the thing—when we drop into our hearts and bodies, we tap into a fuller version of leadership. One that blends emotional intelligence, presence, and authenticity.

Here are three ways this shows up in leadership:

Decision-Making in Crisis:

Leading from the head means rushing into action, analysing data, and problem-solving, but this can miss the emotional pulse of the team. A leader grounded in their body pauses, takes in the facts and the emotions in the room, and leads with empathy, fostering trust and resilience.

Managing Conflict:

A head-only approach tries to fix conflict with logic, but emotional wounds remain. A heart-body leader listens deeply, acknowledges feelings, and finds authentic resolutions that strengthen relationships.

 Inspiring and Motivating Teams:

Logic alone engages the mind, but where’s the emotional spark? Leaders connected to their hearts and bodies inspire through vulnerability, sharing stories that engage not just the minds of their teams, but their energy and passion.

When I work with my clients, I guide them to reconnect with themselves—to truly feel, to embody their experiences, and to embrace all parts of who they are. It’s not about over-analysing everything; it’s about trusting their emotions and learning to exist fully in them.

This shift creates humans (leaders) who are not just thinking—but feeling and being. They make decisions from a place of alignment and inner wisdom. To lead with presence is the conscious rebel’s way.
